The Road Map for Your New Custom Pool or Pool Renovation Project

Building or remodeling a pool is an exciting journey that combines creativity, engineering, and material selection to craft the perfect outdoor oasis.

Explore the steps below to learn more about what’s involved in designing and executing a pool contruction or renovation project.

  • Overview: A site visit is scheduled and an initial budget proposal is established, based on preliminary project details including size, materials, and potential construction challenges. Once the budget proposal is accepted, we can place a hold date in our construction calendar, which allows us to plan out the required next steps needed to work towards breaking ground phase.

    Purpose: To provide a financial framework for the project, helping set realistic expectations, and plan for costs associated with the design, materials, and construction phases.

  • Overview: The next step in the process begins with a thorough site evaluation, which includes assessing the layout, measurements, existing structures, and the surrounding environment.

    Purpose: To understand site-specific challenges and opportunities, such as space constraints, access, and any existing landscaping or utilities that need to be considered.

  • Overview: Designers work with clients to translate ideas into visual concepts, often creating detailed 3D renderings of the proposed pool and backyard layout.

    Purpose: To provide a clear visual representation of the final project, allowing for refinements and alignment with the client’s vision and initial budget.

  • Overview: Depending on the complexity of the project, a topographic map may be generated and soil testing may be conducted (if applicable), to ensure the ground is stable and suitable for construction.

    Purpose: To address structural and drainage considerations, ensuring the longevity and safety of the pool.

  • Overview: Structural engineers design the specifications for the pool, including plumbing, electrical, and foundational elements. Plans are created to comply with local building codes.

    Purpose: To develop detailed blueprints required for permits and construction.

  • Overview: Clients select materials for various pool elements such as coping, tiles, and interior finishes. Simultaneously, permits are obtained from local authorities.

    Purpose: To ensure a cohesive design aesthetic and compliance with regulations before construction begins.

In our Windsor showroom, we have many waterline tile options on display in the Design Center from the suppliers listed below:

  • While we can offer a wide range of finishes, one of our most popular options is the PebbleSheen product line. Composed of natural materials and cement-based products, Pebble finishes offer both longevity and long-term beauty, when compared to traditional finishes such as plaster or quartz. Here are recommended finishes to explore:

  • Pools are often built partially out of ground or with a raised bond beam. In those cases, we need to [provide a veneer stone material finish. Options to explore:

  • If an automatic safety cover is being installed, we will go review the available cover colors and features during the process.
